can I type in an address across town and then get guided there from walking and the bus

    • Ile says:

You can search by address. You can then ask BlindSquare to give direction/distance guidance or start external turn-by-turn navigation app that will give additional guidance. BlindSquare will stay on background giving additional information about intersections and places around you.

I am using blindsquare on my Iphone 4. When I go to tools & try to look around or get my location, it goes back to tools without doing anything. What is wrong?

    • Ile says:

If you are moving, it doesn’t work. So, when you start it you need to be standing still. Then you can turn your device to different directions and you will hear heading, street crossings and what kind places are found on that direction.

Blind Square is great but there are a few items that might need to change is the filter button options. The item chooser is really difficult to use with voiceover for iPhone. Is there any way to change the item chooser so that it’s easier for the average Voiceover customer can switch between items easier? I teach VoiceOver.

    • Ile says:

Thank you for this info. In next version language selection will move away form item chooser to make it easier to use. I will consider the same change to filter settings too since you need it more often.

    • Sandra says:

Michelle, I’m just curious, what do you find difficult about the item picker? The VO-hint tells you to swipe up or down with one finger, so what is the problem your clients are having? I am surprised to hear this, because I know that the item picker is used in other apps, too, that are specifically being designed for the blind and visually impaired. Do your clients also have problems with the radius, since you use the same gesture to change it?

    Hi ile,

How do I add points of interest to my favorites? Thank you so much.

    • Ile says:

Do a search (by name or address). On the result page that describes the place, switch “Favorite” on. It is then saved to your device and iCloud and synced to your other devices too.

If I put an address in the search and it does not come up with the address what do I do?
Also, can I just launch BlindSquare and will it automatically go into tracker mode?
Does BlindSquare automatically turn off or do I need to shut the app down in the app switcher?
Hope all these questions make sense.
I am very impressed with the app and I have not even used it yet but it has come up with a lot of POI in my area with post codes too.
Well done for the work you have put into this app.

    • Ile says:

Can you email address you don’t find to support@blindsquare.com so we can test why it is not found.

What do you mean by tracking mode? If you have normal filters in use, it will automatically tell you address, street crossings and popular places around you while you go. If you have favorited places, you will hear your arrival/bypass automatically too.

If you have iOS6, BlindSquare will go automatically to sleep mode if you don’t shut it down.

    Great app you’ve got there.

Is it possible to mute the included speech synth and use only VoiceOver? If not, is it possible to acquire a better voice to run the app?

    Thanks all over the place.

    • Ile says:

You can double-tap with two finger to mute Acapela speech synthesizer. Not all features can be used with VoiceOver and it is needed for background operation anyway, so I suggest you to mute it only when browsing UI.

In next version you will have possibility to download lot of new voices, you’ll sure find the one you like! I estimate 2-3 weeks from now as a release date.

I would like Danish added to the listof available languages, all other nordic languages can be downloaded only Danish is not available. As long as we have to use syntehsized speech it is important to be able to use the correct language.

    To Whom this may concern,

I really like this app:-) However, when I reach my location, it doesn’t shut off. How do I completely exit BlindSquare so it doesn’t interupt other functions of the phone and/or when I’m done using the app?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    June Sutton

    • Ile says:

Go to settings and turn “Background operation” off. Then BlindSquare will get silenced when you close it, go to other screen or lock screen.

Hi! Thanks for a very good app, In my opinion the best one for blind so far. But there is some sugest i have. When you come to a streatcross i would like to know on wich side i have diferent streat. E.g Bredgatan to your left side, Skomakargatan strait ahead änd st.södergatan to your right. An i would alsow would like to have oportunity to turn of that hi say wich category it is. because allmoast you hear on the name what it is, if it’s a bar restaurante or what else. And finaly i nwould alsow like to hear an anounsment wich streat i turn in on. As it is now i must walk a quite long distans before Blindsquare tell me on wich streat i’m on.

    • Ile says:

Hello! These both are planned features, but currently BS doesn’t have vector information of the streets and it makes it hard to announce those things as you wish.

  10. Yes I would like to say that blind square is not working correctly and I can’t work it I would just like a refund and when it do work it gives u the wrong information..
